Being You

Introduction

What would you say if I told you that you are good enough? How would you respond if I asked you to stop listening to the critics in your head? You know what I am talking about.

The Critics and You

There is a chorus, a team, an entire band of naysayers, who point out every little imperfection in your every move. Indeed, these critics take every opportunity to highlight the mistakes you made, the ineffectiveness of your choices and the foolishness of your responses. They point out that you didn’t try hard enough.

And most of these same commentators live in your head. They magnify every comment directed at you. They inflate every piece of criticism you’ve ever received. Your every weakness is placed under a microscope and analyzed with deliberate and exacting precision. This is not the bully in front of you. This is you, being hard on yourself. You beat yourself up because of who you think you are; someone you think will never be good enough.

You are Human

Please give yourself a break. Remember that you are only human. And being human requires only one thing of you. Just to try. Keep trying and don’t give up. To do a tiny bit better everyday. If you slip a little one day, pull yourself up the next day. And on the days you do slip up, the first thing you must do is to forgive yourself. Tell yourself that it is going to be alright. Don’t let those critics stop you from truly succeeding. There is only one person that you need to answer to. That person is you.

You are Judged

If you need to answer to anyone else, make sure that they are worthy of judging you.

Believe me, there are plenty of judgmental people out there. I think it is because these people cannot look within. The reason why they can’t is because they are so damaged. In turn, they think it is alright to be the expert of others. My personal experience with judgment and abuse in very close relationships, is outlined here:- https://sues.life/2021/02/13/a-marriage-without-love/

Moreover, there are even worse types, people who need to spew lies and spread hate because they are hollow and unremarkable. These people have no compassion and real tolerance for other people. They are too lazy to research real facts and get to know people on a deeper level.

Remember that a lot of judgmental people are deeply insecure. Indeed, instead of working on their mental and spiritual health, they project their negativity onto you.

Care and Acceptance

The one person you must spend the rest of your life with is you. So if you don’t love yourself, you will be miserable. What do I mean by loving yourself? I don’t mean some narcissistic, self-adoration. I mean accepting and caring about you, with your imperfections.

When you accept yourself, there is a very good chance that your life will be more peaceful. You will experience true happiness and joy. We are living in the time of Covid-19. In addition, racism and intolerance are at their peak. However, we can always work continuously on ourselves and maybe, seek support from like-minded individuals, https://sues.life/2020/07/31/the-impetus/. The reason is because we are ultimately on our respective soul journeys. On this soul journey of ours, other people don’t get to mar our moral center and our very humanity.

Conclusion

You were created and came into being as you. You are unique and different. This is how you are distinguished from other people. So all you have to do is to try to become the best version of yourself.

Indeed, this is all you have to focus on doing.

You were created and came into being as you. You are unique and different. This is how you are distinguished from other people. So all you have to do is to try to become the best version of yourself.
